My husband, Glenn, declared them to be his favorite dish at the event. We met the lady who made them and her husband. They were originally from Scotland. She wrote the recipe down for me to make when we returned home. I hate to admit it, but that was in 1995, and I haven't made them yet. Maybe, I'll be inspired by this recipe because of the gluten free suggestion.
