Tisane
Love it!! Many folks refer to herbal teas as tisanes. My Websters defines tisane as an infusion (of dried herbs) used as a beverage or for medicinal effects. Most tisanes are naturally caffeine free, the exception being Mate from South America. This herb, with the sign nestled among a healthy crop of blooming anise hyssop certainly would provide refreshment on a hot sultry day.
Harney makes/used to make a chocolate mint tea. I described the taste as that of a Peppermint Patty that had been left on the dashboard of my car in the sun...you know, you unwrap it and lick the warm, melted candy off the inside wrapper!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite tisane is mint tea. A neighbor has a mint patch that I pass every day on my dog walk. I often reach down a pluck a leaf to smell. I've been tempted all summer to pick enough for tea. Oh, I know she'd give me all I wanted but there is something exciting about sneaking into the mint in James Bond style. :)
