This recipe is an adaptation from Rosemary Gladstar's Family Herbal Book
Vinegar hair rinses keep indefinitely so feel free to make a large batch. Vinegar rinses are good for itchy scalps, dandruff and dull hair. Surprisingly, vinegar is effective on both Oily and Dry Hair. It helps to restore the natural acidity of the scalp. If the smell of vinegar bothers you, try it any way, I think you will find that the scent doesn't linger and that the essential oils help to lesson the smell of the vinegar.
Fill an empty jar half full with Rosemary, Basil, Lavender and Peppermint, use either fresh or dried.
Cover with vinegar (Apple Cider is our favorite)
Let steep for 3 weeks
Strain well
Add a few drops of Tea Tree Oil, Ylang Ylang Essential Oil, or Lemon Essential Oil
(You can modify this recipe and use any combination of the above herbs and oils.)
To use on your hair, dilute this vinegar with distilled water
For oily hair: Use 1 part rinse to 4 parts water
For dry hair: Use 1 part rinse to 6 parts water
Thanks! This sounds easy and nice to try.
