Orange Curd

Yesterday we celebrated Super Scone Sunday in the tea room. We like to vary the scone toppings, so we served Orange Curd instead of the usual Lemon Curd.
A guest requested the Orange Curd recipe, and we're happy to share. Although very similar to Lemon Curd, it has a less tart flavor and slightly thicker texture.
Orange Curd
3 eggs
1/2 c. butter, melted
1 c. sugar
grated zest of 1 lemon
grated zest of 1 orange
2 Tbsp. lemon juice
6 Tbsp. orange juice
In large microwave safe 4 c. measuring bowl, whisk eggs until well blended. Add remaining ingredients, whisking until combined. Place in microwave, and heat in one minute increments, whisking after each minute, for approximately 4 - 5 minutes, until the curd thickens and 'puffs' up. Cover top with saran wrap and place in refrigerator overnight before serving. The Orange Curd will thicken as it chills.

  1. I love any curd -- lemon, orange, lime or even raspberry!

Only thing better on a scone is real Devonshire cream!

  3. Sounds delicious. I make lemon curd in the microwave, but have never made orange curd.
