Cocoa

A lot of good stuff comes from the Dominican Republic: bananas, coconuts, cigars, coffee and chocolate!  Cocoa is another of the agricultural crops of the Dominican Republic.  They like their chocolate with a high rate of cocoa in it.
It is a bit of work to break open the ripe pods, separate out the mushy parts to get to the pods, and then dried, roasted, shelled by hand, and lastly ground, but it is worth the effort.  The dried ground chocolate combined with a touch of other Dominican crops; sugar and vanilla, and you have yummy hot chocolate.
