Doug Elliot is a longtime herbalist. He began in the late '60s and in the 70's when he was traveling around selling out of his VW Microbus. Doug is an herbalist, naturalist and a gifted storyteller. He is the author of the other book called ROOTS (which came out the same year as Alex Haley's tome). He is without a doubt a terrific showman. Telling stories and weaving tales through out the stories the tells. But this showman is quite knowledgeable and most importantly not afraid to say "I don't know". Which means you can believe all he says. I've learned over the years if your plant guide has an answer for every single question -- it's best not to trust them fully.
Doug Elliot shares stories from his friends in the hollers of the south but is just as interested in the plant uses from your local area as well. Named The International Herb Association Herbalist of Year for 2013,You can find Doug around the country at Nature Centers, Story telling conferences, Herbal conferences and more. If you have the opportunity to hear him, don't pass it up. He's a treasure.
Will TRH be hosting a workshop with him? Please?
ReplyDeleteSounds like a neat guy! With all the changes going on in healthcare, I think we will be hearing more about herbs as preventive medicine--guys like him may be the new rock stars!
