The Strainer Collection Grows

This beautiful silver tea strainer is the newest addition to my personal collection of unique and unusual tea strainers. It was purchased at Coffee and Tea Festival in Oaks, PA from the private collection of Miriam Novalle founder of the T Salon in New York City and gifted to me by my brother in law at Christmas.

The beautiful cutout detail on the strainer is absolutely gorgeous. It has a small clasp on the inside of the strainer that helps to hold it closed once the tea leaves have been placed inside. This would be the perfect size for an individual cup or mug of tea.

Alas, the individual markings that are on the handle are too miniscule to decipher without jewelers glasses, but it would certainly be fun to investigate to learn a little more about this treasure.

  1. Who needs brothers when you have such thoughtful BILs? Beautiful gift! Does he, by any chance, have a personal shopper helping him?

  2. A very unique strainer indeed. It is quite beautiful. I think I would just want to set it on a shelf and treasure it.

  3. Oh my, that is lovely--never seen one like it at all! What a wonderful gift!

P.S. Sometimes when I can't read the words on a piece, I take a closeup photo as tight as I can, and then when I enlarge it on the computer I can usually figure out the wording. Just another tip to try, maybe!

  4. What a lovely addition to your tea strainer collection. Your brother-in-law takes pretty good care of his sister-in-law. He's got very good taste in tea-themed gifts. Lucky you!
