As a favor for the evening, our guests received a package of the spices used in the cake along with the recipe and the Bible verses listed.
A good hearty spice cake that includes raisins, figs and almonds, many of the attendees remembered it as something their grandmother used to make.
Although this recipe says to bake it in a loaf pan, there was entirely too much batter. It fit perfectly in a Bundt pan.
That is wonderful! I lost my recipe in a move. I am sharing on my Facebook page Antiques And Teacups.

This cake sounds terrific (and I like all the ingredients). Love that you gave guests the recipe, packet of spices, and Bible references! Now how can I use this at church sometime ... hmm ...
ReplyDeleteI have heard of this cake for years. It does sound good and it takes figs. Ha!
ReplyDeleteLooove this idea! The cake is wonderful and looks yummy ♥
ReplyDeleteI've heard of this cake but never seen the recipe - the figs might be a problem for me but I know Marilyn Miller grows scads of them and could use them if she decided to bake it.
ReplyDeleteA great theme for one of your teas Nancy.

ReplyDeleteI would have loved this tea! Thanks for providing the recipe for the Scripture Cake.
