Happy Fourth of July! And what better way to celebrate than a tour of the DuPont family home in Winterthur, DE. This American treasure features a magnificent naturalistic garden and an unbelievable museum of American decorative arts. 
While all the other wealthy families were collecting European furniture and memorabilia, Henry Francis du Pont had the foresight to collect American made furniture, pottery, and china. A new wing was added to the house to specifically display the enormous collection of American antiques.
We toured 15 rooms of this 175 room estate.

I have always wanted to visit Winterthur and now even more. How I would love sipping tea while sitting on that yellow chair. What beautiful American made dinner set. Everything is beautiful.
This looks like a must-see when I'm up that way! All those pretty dishes must have had you drooling!
