English Lavender

Lavender at the Manor House, Avebury
Our most recent travels took us across the Pond to England where we spent a most delightful holiday. July is the best time to travel to England if you want to experience the lavender in full bloom. Everywhere we looked, there was a patch of healthy lavender in blossom.

With daylight extending well into the late evening, frequent gentle rains, and free draining limestone soils 1,000 feet above sea level, one finds the best growing conditions for English Lavender.

Lovely! I have a lavender post too, but USA. Loved Avebury and the manor when we last visited. Lovely photos and reminders. So glad you all had such a wonderful time!

Loved seeing your lavender photos from your recent trip to England. While I loved spending 14 days in London and the surrounding areas, I missed going to the Cotswolds. Guess that means I have to go back! ;-) And seeing lavender in bloom would be frosting on the cake!

Oh, my goodness … a scratch 'n sniff post today! (Don't I wish!) But I can practically smell the lavender. Now you've got me wanting to visit there in July!

I would have been in heaven with all of that lavender. How beautiful! And you stayed in the Cotswolds, I love it there. Can't wait to hear more about your trip.
